The Prius U uses a 1.8L 2ZR-FXE hybrid powertrain producing 140 PS system output. It is not designed as a performance-focused Prius, but the electric motor gives it immediate low-speed response. A realistic 0–100 km/h time is around 9.5–10 seconds, depending on conditions.

Check the auction sheet and chassis number first, then inspect hybrid battery health, battery cooling, inverter operation, engine condition, E-CVT behavior, suspension, brakes, AC, tyres and all warning lights.

During the test drive, look for abnormal hybrid-system warnings, rough engine start/stop transitions, unusual battery discharge behavior and inconsistent regenerative braking. Also inspect the underside carefully because low clearance can result in damage from Bangladesh roads.

The main drawbacks are low ground clearance, a relatively simple U-grade cabin, limited rear headroom and the potential cost of hybrid-system repairs outside routine maintenance. The U also gives up some of the equipment found on the higher G and Z grades.
