Toyota Prius price in Bangladesh is approximately 38-45 lakh, depending on different model trim and options.
The Prius U uses a 1.8L 2ZR-FXE hybrid powertrain producing 140 PS system output. It is not designed as a performance-focused Prius, but the electric motor gives it immediate low-speed response. A realistic 0–100 km/h time is around 9.5–10 seconds, depending on conditions.
Real-world fuel economy can be around 20–24 km/L in city traffic, 25–29 km/L on highways and approximately 23–27 km/L combined with sensible driving. Heavy Dhaka traffic, air-conditioning use, tyre pressure, battery condition and driving style can move the figure significantly.
The fifth-generation Prius has been offered with U, G and Z grades for the conventional hybrid range, with different powertrains and equipment. The U uses the 1.8L hybrid system, while G and Z are associated with the 2.0L hybrid system. Toyota also offers plug-in-hybrid versions separately.
The biggest consideration is its approximately 145 mm ground clearance on the efficiency-focused configuration. That is manageable on normal paved roads, but steep ramps, broken roads, large speed breakers and deep potholes require care. The long 2,750 mm wheelbase also means approach and departure angles should be considered on rough roads.
Yes, the hybrid system suits stop-and-go traffic particularly well. Electric assistance makes low-speed movement smooth, while regenerative braking helps recover energy during deceleration. In heavy Dhaka traffic, the biggest advantage is the ability to maintain respectable fuel economy despite frequent stopping and starting.
Routine maintenance is generally manageable, but a newer Prius involves more expensive hybrid-specific components than a conventional petrol sedan. Regular servicing, filters, fluids, brakes and suspension should be budgeted normally, while the hybrid battery, inverter and hybrid cooling system deserve particular attention when buying a used unit.
Check the auction sheet and chassis number first, then inspect hybrid battery health, battery cooling, inverter operation, engine condition, E-CVT behavior, suspension, brakes, AC, tyres and all warning lights.
During the test drive, look for abnormal hybrid-system warnings, rough engine start/stop transitions, unusual battery discharge behavior and inconsistent regenerative braking. Also inspect the underside carefully because low clearance can result in damage from Bangladesh roads.
The main drawbacks are low ground clearance, a relatively simple U-grade cabin, limited rear headroom and the potential cost of hybrid-system repairs outside routine maintenance. The U also gives up some of the equipment found on the higher G and Z grades.
Yes, Prius does have other variants. Check out the Prius page at Toyota Prius for all other available variants.
