Toyota Wish 1st Gen (2003-2009)

This generation is XE10 of Toyota Wish, available from 2003 - 2009.

The 1.8L 1ZZ-FE engine produces 132 hp and 170 Nm, with a 4-speed automatic transmission. 0–100 km/h takes roughly 11.5 seconds. The front brakes use ventilated discs and the rear brakes use discs, with ABS, Brake Assist and EBD for predictable braking performance.

Toyota Wish 1.8 can realistically provide around 8–9 km/L in city driving, 12–14 km/L on highways and approximately 10–11 km/L combined in Bangladesh. Dhaka traffic, frequent AC use, passenger load, engine condition and driving style can significantly affect fuel economy.

The first-generation Wish was available with grades including X, X E Package, X S Package, X Aero Sports Package and Z, with 1.8L and 2.0L engines depending on specification. The 1.8 X is a practical family configuration, while the Z provides stronger 2.0L performance and more equipment.

Yes, the Toyota Wish works well on paved Dhaka roads and Bangladesh highways, thanks to its compact MPV dimensions, comfortable suspension and seven-seat practicality. Its approximately 150 mm ground clearance means you should slow down over large speed breakers and deep potholes. It is less suitable for consistently broken or unpaved roads.

1.8L petrol engine, automatic transmission and relatively compact 4.56-metre body make the Wish easy to use in city traffic. The three-row cabin is useful for family transport, although carrying seven passengers regularly will reduce acceleration and fuel economy

Routine maintenance can generally be kept around Tk 15,000–25,000 per year, excluding fuel and major repairs. Also inspect accident repairs, rust, oil leaks, unusual engine noise and warning lights. Check the third-row seats and folding mechanisms, test every power window and verify that the air-conditioning works properly in both front and rear areas.
