Toyota Prius Alpha price in Bangladesh is roughly ৳15–32 lakh in today market. Older cars can be found below ৳20 lakh, while clean later-model G, G Touring or G's/GR Sport cars can reach approximately ৳26–32 lakh.
The Prius Alpha uses a 1.8L 2ZR-FXE hybrid system, with approximately 136 PS system output and strong electric-motor assistance. A realistic 0–100 km/h time is approximately 10.5–11 seconds depending on vehicle condition and test conditions. Braking uses ventilated discs at the front and discs at the rear, with ABS, EBD and Brake Assist. Toyota does not provide a factory 0–100 km/h braking-distance figure for the Alpha, so a precise stopping-distance number should not be entered without an independent test. Toyota confirms the ventilated-front/disc-rear brake configuration on later Alpha versions.
On Bangladesh roads, a realistic Prius Alpha should return approximately 14–17 km/L in city driving, 19–22 km/L on highways and around 16–19 km/L combined. Dhaka traffic, frequent AC use, hybrid-battery condition, tyre pressure and driving style have a noticeable effect. Toyota's later Japanese catalogue figure is 20.7 km/L WLTC, but that laboratory rating should not be treated as the actual Bangladesh city mileage.
The main Prius Alpha grades include S, S L Selection, S Touring Selection, G and G Touring Selection, with special versions such as S Tune Black II and S Touring Selection G's/GR Sport. Five-seat and seven-seat configurations are available. S versions are more straightforward family options, while G and G Touring Selection add equipment and comfort features. G's/GR Sport versions focus more on sporty appearance and chassis tuning. Toyota's official lineup confirms these grades and both seating configurations.
The Prius Alpha works well on Dhaka and Bangladesh's paved city and highway roads, especially when comfort and fuel economy are priorities. However, its approximately 145 mm ground clearance means drivers need to approach large speed breakers, broken road sections, potholes and steep ramps carefully. The seven-seat body is useful for family travel, but the third row is better suited to children or shorter journeys rather than carrying adults regularly. On badly damaged rural roads, suspension and underbody components need extra attention.
Yes. The hybrid system is particularly useful in Dhaka stop-and-go traffic because the electric motor can move the vehicle smoothly at low speeds and regenerative braking recovers energy during deceleration. The e-CVT also avoids conventional gear changes. Heavy congestion and prolonged AC use will reduce mileage, but the Alpha remains well suited to daily commuting. Its relatively large body compared with a standard Prius is still manageable in urban traffic.
For a healthy car, routine maintenance can reasonably be budgeted at around ৳15,000–30,000 per year, excluding fuel, insurance and major repairs. A normal engine-oil and filter service can commonly fall around ৳4,000–7,000, depending on lubricant and workshop. For an older or high-mileage Prius Alpha, keeping approximately ৳30,000–60,000 annually as a repair reserve is more realistic because suspension, brakes, 12V battery, cooling components and hybrid-system repairs can add unexpected costs. Parts availability is generally good because the Toyota hybrid system is widely known in Bangladesh.
Check the auction sheet, chassis history, accident history, mileage and hybrid-battery condition first. Then inspect the engine, inverter, hybrid cooling system, e-CVT operation, suspension, steering, brakes, AC, electrical systems and underbody. Scan the car for stored hybrid-system fault codes. For seven-seat cars, inspect the third-row mechanism and folding system carefully. Check for water or flood damage, unusual battery fan noise, warning lights and uneven battery performance during a proper test drive.
The Prius Alpha is worth considering if you need a fuel-efficient Toyota family car with five or seven seats, a spacious cabin and proven hybrid technology. It is particularly useful for city commuting and family trips. The key is buying based on condition rather than simply choosing the newest-looking car. A clean auction history, healthy hybrid battery, good suspension and properly functioning AC are more important than cosmetic upgrades. Buyers should also compare it with the Toyota Prius, Sienta, Wish, Noah and other family-oriented Toyota models available in Bangladesh.
