Braking uses ventilated discs at the front and discs at the rear, with ABS, EBD and Brake Assist. Check the auction sheet, chassis history, accident history, mileage and hybrid-battery condition first. Then inspect the engine, inverter, hybrid cooling system, e-CVT operation, suspension, steering, brakes, AC, electrical systems and underbody. Scan the car for stored hybrid-system fault codes. For seven-seat cars, inspect the third-row mechanism and folding system carefully. Check for water or flood damage, unusual battery fan noise, warning lights and uneven battery performance during a proper test drive.

The Prius Alpha is worth considering if you need a fuel-efficient Toyota family car with five or seven seats, a spacious cabin and proven hybrid technology. It is particularly useful for city commuting and family trips. The key is buying based on condition rather than simply choosing the newest-looking car. A clean auction history, healthy hybrid battery, good suspension and properly functioning AC are more important than cosmetic upgrades.
