The current Bangladesh used-market asking range for a Toyota Passo 2010–2016 is approximately Tk 8 lakh–Tk 16 lakh. The actual price depends heavily on model year, registration year, mileage, grade, engine condition, accident history and overall maintenance
The common 1.0L Passo uses a 996cc 1KR-FE three-cylinder engine producing 69 PS and 92 Nm. From 2010 onward it uses a CVT automatic transmission, which makes city driving smoother than the first-generation four-speed automatic. The 1.0L is adequate for normal Dhaka commuting but is not a fast car. The estimated 0–100 km/h time is around 13.5 seconds. Braking uses front ventilated discs and rear drums, with ABS, EBD and Brake Assist. Toyota's later second-generation facelift also added VSC and TRC as standard equipment.
For a healthy 1.0L FWD Passo on Bangladesh roads, a realistic target is around 13 km/L in city driving, 17 km/L on highways and approximately 15 km/L combined. Dhaka traffic, frequent AC use, short trips and aggressive acceleration can reduce city mileage considerably. Toyota's Japanese laboratory figures were much higher: the 2014 1.0L Passo was rated up to 27.6 km/L under JC08 testing, while earlier versions were rated around 21–22 km/L. Those Japanese test figures should not be treated as real Bangladesh-road mileage.
The second-generation Passo had several grades including X, X L Package, X V Package, X G Package, G and Plus Hana, with special editions and equipment packages varying by year. X is the straightforward economy option, while X L Package and X G Package provide more equipment. The 1.3L G and Plus Hana use the stronger 1NR-FE 1.3L engine producing 95 PS and 121 Nm, making them more suitable for buyers who regularly carry passengers or drive on highways. The Plus Hana focuses more on styling and comfort.
The Passo is particularly well suited to Dhaka's narrow streets, congested traffic and limited parking spaces. Its compact body, light steering and approximately 4.7-metre turning radius make it easy to manoeuvre. The approximately 150mm ground clearance is acceptable for normal city roads but requires care over large speed breakers and deep potholes. It is much more comfortable on paved roads than badly broken rural roads. Suspension condition is particularly important when buying a used Passo because worn shocks, bushes and lower-arm components can make the car feel much harsher than a properly maintained vehicle.
Yes. City driving is where the Passo's design makes the most sense. The 1.0L engine, CVT automatic transmission, compact dimensions and light steering make it easy to drive through Dhaka traffic. The CVT also avoids the frequent gear changes of a conventional automatic and keeps the engine relatively efficient during stop-and-go driving. However, acceleration can feel slow when the car is fully loaded with passengers, especially when the AC is running. Buyers who frequently travel outside Dhaka with four or five passengers may find the 1.3L version more comfortable.
For a properly maintained Passo, a reasonable Bangladesh budget is approximately Tk 15,000–30,000 per year for routine maintenance, excluding fuel, insurance and major unexpected repairs. Regular engine oil, filters and basic servicing are relatively inexpensive. Because the 2010–2016 cars are now older vehicles, owners should keep an additional reserve for suspension bushes, shock absorbers, engine mounts, battery, AC servicing, wheel bearings and CVT-related maintenance. A neglected car can cost considerably more than a well-maintained Passo, so maintenance history matters more than simply finding the cheapest vehicle.
Check the engine, CVT, suspension, brakes, AC, steering, electrical system and chassis before purchasing. Start the engine when cold and check for excessive vibration, smoke or unusual noise. During the test drive, check whether the CVT accelerates smoothly without hesitation, shuddering or abnormal noise. Inspect the suspension over speed breakers and uneven roads. Check AC cooling in traffic, because weak AC performance can become expensive to repair. Also inspect the chassis for accident repairs, welding and uneven panel gaps. Verify registration documents, tax token, fitness, chassis number and engine number before completing the purchase.
The biggest disadvantages are modest 1.0L performance, limited modern safety technology, basic interior materials and relatively low ground clearance. The CVT is smooth and efficient, but a neglected transmission can become expensive to repair. The 1.0L three-cylinder engine can also feel strained when carrying several passengers on highways or climbing steep roads. Compared with newer Toyota models, the Passo lacks modern features such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
The second-generation Passo makes sense for buyers who want a small automatic Japanese car with good fuel economy, easy manoeuvrability and relatively affordable maintenance. It is particularly practical for daily Dhaka commuting. The 1.0L is economical and easy to drive, while the 1.3L is a better choice for buyers who want stronger performance. The most important consideration is condition: a well-maintained Passo with a healthy CVT, working AC, good suspension and straight chassis can be a practical used car, while a neglected unit can quickly consume the money saved on its purchase price.
