It uses ventilated disc brakes front and rear, with ABS, EBD and brake assistance on later specifications. Yes. This is one of the reasons the Prado has remained popular here. Its full-time 4WD, approximately 215–220mm ground clearance, durable suspension and high driving position work well on Bangladesh's broken roads, rural roads, potholes, muddy sections and highway surfaces.

It is also much more comfortable than many hardcore off-road vehicles when driven on ordinary roads.

The downside is its size. In narrow Dhaka streets, crowded markets and small parking spaces, the Prado is considerably less convenient than a sedan

It is surprisingly usable, provided you accept the fuel bill and physical size. The high seating position gives excellent visibility in traffic, while the automatic transmission makes stop-and-go driving easy.

The later 2.8L diesel has much stronger low-speed torque than the older 2.7L petrol, making it easier to move the heavy SUV through traffic.

However, frequent short trips, long idling periods and constant AC use can significantly reduce fuel economy. Expect approximately 7–9 km/L in normal-to-heavy city use, with severe Dhaka congestion potentially producing less.

Check the engine, turbocharger, automatic transmission, 4WD system, differential, transfer case, suspension, steering, brakes and cooling system.

For diesel models, inspect injector condition, turbo performance, DPF system where fitted and service history. Check the chassis carefully for accident repairs or off-road damage.

Also inspect the air suspension on TZ-G-type configurations, electronic equipment, cameras, sensors, sunroof and Toyota Safety Sense functions.

Finally, verify auction records, registration documents, chassis number and mileage. A professional pre-purchase inspection is strongly recommended.

The biggest disadvantages are high purchase price, fuel costs, expensive parts, large dimensions and limited luggage space when all seven seats are occupied.

The 2.7L petrol version is also relatively slow for its size, while the 2.8L diesel is considerably more desirable for torque but can cost more to purchase.

Older J150s may also have suspension, electronic and diesel-system maintenance requirements that ordinary Toyota sedans do not.

The Prado makes the most sense for someone who genuinely needs a comfortable seven-seat SUV with strong ground clearance, full-time 4WD, long-distance capability and good resale demand.

It is less compelling if your driving consists almost entirely of short urban trips and you want maximum fuel economy.

For a used purchase, condition should come before model year. A well-maintained older Prado with verified history is preferable to a newer vehicle with accident damage, neglected maintenance or expensive mechanical problems.
