Question 1

What is the Toyota Prado 2009–2023 price in Bangladesh?

Accepted Answer

Toyota Prado 2009–2023 price in Bangladesh is roughly Tk 50 lakh–Tk 1.80 crore. Older 2009–2013 vehicles generally occupy the lower part of the range, while 2017–2020 models can range around Tk 1.0–1.3 crore. Current 2021–2023 TX-L vehicles can reach approximately Tk 1.37–1.78 crore depending on grade, mileage, auction condition, registration and equipment.

Question 2

How is the Toyota Prado J150's performance, acceleration and braking?

Accepted Answer

The later 2.8L 1GD-FTV diesel produces approximately 204 hp and 500 Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. A representative 2.8L specification reaches approximately 0–100 km/h in 9.9 seconds and a top speed around 175 km/h. It uses ventilated disc brakes front and rear, with ABS, EBD and brake assistance on later specifications. Toyota's published specifications confirm the 204 PS/500 Nm powertrain and disc-brake configuration.

Question 3

What mileage does the Toyota Prado 2009–2023 give in Bangladesh?

Accepted Answer

For the later 2.8L diesel, a realistic Bangladesh expectation is approximately 7–9 km/L in city traffic, 10–13 km/L on highways and 8–10 km/L combined. Dhaka congestion, heavy AC use, tyre size, traffic and driving style can push city consumption below this range. The manufacturer's overseas laboratory figures are considerably more optimistic than what a large 4WD SUV normally achieves in Bangladesh traffic.

Question 4

Which Toyota Prado J150 grade is best to buy in Bangladesh?

Accepted Answer

Common grades include TX, TX-L, TZ, TZ-G and market-specific VX/VXL versions. TX is generally simpler and easier to maintain. TX-L adds comfort and luxury equipment and is especially common in Bangladesh. Higher grades such as TZ-G can offer additional chassis, suspension and luxury technology.

For buyers wanting a balance of equipment and everyday usability, the TX-L is a particularly relevant configuration in the Bangladesh used market. Current listings show numerous TX-L vehicles across different model years.

Question 5

Is the Toyota Prado J150 suitable for Bangladesh roads?

Accepted Answer

Yes. This is one of the reasons the Prado has remained popular here. Its full-time 4WD, approximately 215–220mm ground clearance, durable suspension and high driving position work well on Bangladesh's broken roads, rural roads, potholes, muddy sections and highway surfaces.

It is also much more comfortable than many hardcore off-road vehicles when driven on ordinary roads.

The downside is its size. In narrow Dhaka streets, crowded markets and small parking spaces, the Prado is considerably less convenient than a sedan

Question 6

Is the Toyota Prado good for city driving in Dhaka?

Accepted Answer

It is surprisingly usable, provided you accept the fuel bill and physical size. The high seating position gives excellent visibility in traffic, while the automatic transmission makes stop-and-go driving easy.

The later 2.8L diesel has much stronger low-speed torque than the older 2.7L petrol, making it easier to move the heavy SUV through traffic.

However, frequent short trips, long idling periods and constant AC use can significantly reduce fuel economy. Expect approximately 7–9 km/L in normal-to-heavy city use, with severe Dhaka congestion potentially producing less.

Question 7

How much does it cost to maintain a Toyota Prado in Bangladesh?

Accepted Answer

A newer, well-maintained J150 can typically require around Tk 50,000–1,00,000 annually for routine maintenance, excluding fuel, insurance, tyres and major repairs.

Older vehicles should have a larger reserve because suspension components, steering parts, brakes, battery, AC components, injectors, turbo-related components and 4WD parts can become expensive as mileage increases.

A 2.8L diesel also needs proper oil, filter and diesel-system maintenance. Skipping servicing to save money is particularly risky on an expensive SUV.

Question 8

What should I check before buying a used Toyota Prado J150?

Accepted Answer

Check the engine, turbocharger, automatic transmission, 4WD system, differential, transfer case, suspension, steering, brakes and cooling system.

For diesel models, inspect injector condition, turbo performance, DPF system where fitted and service history. Check the chassis carefully for accident repairs or off-road damage.

Also inspect the air suspension on TZ-G-type configurations, electronic equipment, cameras, sensors, sunroof and Toyota Safety Sense functions.

Finally, verify auction records, registration documents, chassis number and mileage. A professional pre-purchase inspection is strongly recommended.

Question 9

What are the main disadvantages of the Toyota Prado J150?

Accepted Answer

The biggest disadvantages are high purchase price, fuel costs, expensive parts, large dimensions and limited luggage space when all seven seats are occupied.

The 2.7L petrol version is also relatively slow for its size, while the 2.8L diesel is considerably more desirable for torque but can cost more to purchase.

Older J150s may also have suspension, electronic and diesel-system maintenance requirements that ordinary Toyota sedans do not.

Question 10

Should I buy a Toyota Prado 2009–2023 in Bangladesh?

Accepted Answer

The Prado makes the most sense for someone who genuinely needs a comfortable seven-seat SUV with strong ground clearance, full-time 4WD, long-distance capability and good resale demand.

It is less compelling if your driving consists almost entirely of short urban trips and you want maximum fuel economy.

For a used purchase, condition should come before model year. A well-maintained older Prado with verified history is preferable to a newer vehicle with accident damage, neglected maintenance or expensive mechanical problems.
