Useful Technology Without the Theatre
The Axio EX is an interesting mixture of old-school simplicity and genuinely useful modern technology.
You get power windows, smart key entry, push-button start, automatic lighting, LED headlights, LED rear combination lamps, LED front fog lamps, a multi-information display, USB charging and automatic climate-related equipment depending on the exact configuration.
The important part is Toyota Safety Sense.
The latest Axio EX incorporates Pre-Collision Safety, Lane Departure Alert and Automatic High Beam. These are considerably more useful than a dashboard full of gimmicks because they address situations that can actually happen on Bangladesh roads.
There is also VSC and TRC, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, Hill Start Assist and multiple airbags including side and curtain airbags.
However, the infotainment situation is rather basic. The factory configuration can be supplied without a conventional multimedia system, while Toyota's equipment list provides dealer-installed navigation and audio options. Consequently, many Bangladesh-market cars may arrive with aftermarket Android displays, reverse cameras or upgraded speakers.
That is fine, but you should distinguish factory equipment from whatever a previous owner or importer installed.
The Axio also lacks several features that have become common in more expensive modern cars. There is no adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, traffic-sign recognition, lane-keeping assist or 360-degree camera as standard EX equipment.
In other words, Toyota concentrated on the features that matter most for basic safety and daily usability.
That is not spectacular.
It is sensible.
