Toyota Supra SZ-R price in Bangladesh is currently around ৳1.25 crore to ৳1.80 crore, with the final price depending on model year, auction grade, mileage, condition, specification and import costs.
Toyota Supra SZ-R uses a 1,998cc turbocharged inline-four producing 258 PS and 400 Nm. It reaches 100 km/h from rest in approximately 5.2 seconds. The SZ-R uses ventilated disc brakes front and rear, ABS, EBD, brake assist, traction control and vehicle stability control. Toyota also equips the SZ-R with adaptive variable suspension and an active differential.
For Bangladesh roads, approximately 8–10 km/L in city traffic, 13–15 km/L on highways and around 11–12 km/L combined is a realistic expectation. Toyota's official Japanese WLTC rating is 14.0 km/L combined, with 10.0 km/L in city driving, 14.6 km/L suburban and 16.4 km/L highway. Real Dhaka traffic, AC use and driving style will normally reduce those laboratory figures.
The SZ has the 2.0L turbocharged engine producing 197 PS and 320 Nm. The SZ-R uses the same 2.0L engine but produces 258 PS and 400 Nm, while the RZ uses the 3.0L turbocharged inline-six producing 387 PS and 500 Nm in the latest specification. The SZ-R also adds 18-inch wheels, adaptive variable suspension, an active differential and more performance-oriented equipment.
It is suitable for good paved roads and highways, but its low sports-car body requires care on large speed breakers, potholes, broken roads and steep parking ramps. The 1295 mm body height and approximately 120 mm clearance make it considerably less forgiving than a conventional sedan or SUV. The performance suspension is excellent on smooth roads but is not designed for badly damaged surfaces.
The SZ-R is reasonably easy to drive in traffic because the 8-speed automatic transmission handles stop-and-go driving smoothly and the 2.0L turbo engine provides plenty of torque. Its compact 4380 mm length also helps in narrow urban spaces. However, the low seating position, limited rear visibility, low ground clearance and heavy traffic mean it requires more attention than an ordinary Toyota sedan.
Routine maintenance can reasonably require around ৳40,000–৳80,000 per year, excluding fuel, insurance, tyres and major repairs. The SZ-R has performance-oriented brakes, 18-inch tyres, adaptive suspension and imported drivetrain components, so maintenance is more expensive than a Corolla or Premio. A larger reserve is sensible for suspension, tyres, brakes or electronic repairs on a higher-mileage car.
Check the Japanese auction sheet, chassis history, mileage, accident repairs, engine, turbocharger, 8-speed automatic transmission, cooling system, adaptive suspension, active differential, brakes, 18-inch tyres and electronics. Inspect the underbody particularly carefully because the Supra's low body can suffer damage from potholes, speed breakers and ramps. Also check for ECU tuning, aftermarket exhausts, suspension modifications and previous performance use.
The main disadvantages are only two seats, low ground clearance, limited luggage space, expensive performance tyres and high purchase cost in Bangladesh. The SZ-R also uses premium petrol and is less practical for family transportation than a normal sedan. Its advantages become much more apparent on open roads than in congested city traffic.
The Supra SZ-R provides a middle ground between the 197-PS SZ and 387-PS RZ. Its 258 PS, 400 Nm, 5.2-second 0–100 km/h performance, rear-wheel drive and adaptive suspension give it serious sports-car capability without moving to the RZ's 3.0L engine. Its two-seat layout and low ground clearance make it specialised, but for someone wanting a performance-focused Supra for paved roads and highway driving, the SZ-R offers a distinct combination of speed and agility.
