Toyota Probox DX Specifications

The 1.5L Toyota Probox produces 109 PS and 136 Nm, giving it adequate performance for city driving, business use and highway travel. The CVT transmission keeps acceleration smooth rather than sporty, and 0–100 km/h takes approximately 11.5–12.5 seconds depending on load, road conditions and vehicle condition.

The Probox uses ventilated disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear, with ABS and electronic braking assistance on applicable specifications. Toyota does not publish a universal official braking-distance figure for the Probox, so actual stopping distance depends on tyres, road surface, load, brake condition and driver input.

A 1.5L Toyota Probox can realistically deliver around 12–14 km/L in city driving, 16–19 km/L on highways and approximately 14–17 km/L combined in Bangladesh. Dhaka traffic, frequent air-conditioning use, heavy loads and aggressive acceleration can reduce mileage, while open roads and moderate speeds can improve it.

Toyota's Japanese test figures are higher than what many Bangladesh drivers experience because laboratory testing does not reproduce Dhaka congestion, road conditions and driving habits.

For newer 1.5L petrol Probox models, the Japanese lineup uses grades such as G and F, while older models used DX, DX Comfort, GL and F. A base-oriented grade suits buyers who mainly need cargo space and reliable transportation, while higher grades are better for buyers who want additional comfort and equipment.

Yes. The Probox is particularly well suited to Dhaka traffic, narrow urban roads, business routes and intercity highways. Its compact 4,245 mm body and 4.9-metre turning radius make it relatively easy to manoeuvre in crowded areas.

The 140 mm ground clearance is adequate for normal paved roads but requires care over large speed breakers, deep potholes and badly damaged roads. The long, square body is also useful when carrying luggage, tools or business goods.

Yes. The 1.5L engine, CVT automatic transmission, compact dimensions and light steering make the Probox easy to use in city traffic. It is particularly practical for drivers who regularly carry cargo or equipment.

In Dhaka's stop-and-go traffic, the CVT avoids frequent conventional gear changes and keeps the engine's power delivery smooth. Fuel consumption will naturally rise during severe congestion and prolonged AC use.

Routine maintenance is generally affordable because the 1.5L 1NZ-FE engine is widely known in Bangladesh and replacement parts are readily available. A normal oil and filter service can commonly fall around ৳4,000–7,000, depending on oil quality, parts and workshop.

For a newer Probox, keeping approximately ৳15,000–30,000 per year for routine maintenance is a reasonable starting budget, excluding fuel, insurance and major repairs. Older or heavily used vehicles may require considerably more for suspension, brakes, tyres, battery and other wear items.

Yes, the Toyota Probox 1.5 F is suitable for normal Bangladesh roads, with its wagon body, FWD drivetrain and petrol power suited to everyday road use.

Check the Japanese auction sheet, chassis number, auction grade, mileage and accident history first. Then inspect the 1.5L engine, CVT transmission, suspension, steering, brakes, AC and electrical systems.

Pay particular attention to chassis repairs, flood damage, rust, repainting, uneven tyre wear and inconsistent mileage. Check the underside carefully because Probox vehicles may have spent their Japanese lives in commercial use.

A professional inspection before purchase is worthwhile, particularly for a higher-priced reconditioned unit.

The main disadvantages are its basic cabin, limited premium equipment, modest acceleration and commercial-vehicle character. The suspension and interior are designed around practicality rather than luxury, while the 140 mm ground clearance requires caution on badly damaged Bangladesh roads.

The Probox is also noisier and less refined than passenger-oriented Toyota models such as the Allion, Premio or Corolla. Buyers choosing it primarily for family comfort should consider this difference before purchasing.
