Current Bangladesh used and reconditioned market range for the Toyota Passo 2016–2023 is approximately Tk 13.5 lakh–Tk 23 lakh.
The final-generation Passo uses a 996cc 1KR-FE three-cylinder engine producing 69 PS and 92 Nm. The CVT provides smooth acceleration in city traffic, but the car is designed for economy rather than performance. A realistic 0–100 km/h figure is approximately 13.9 seconds. Braking uses ventilated front discs and rear drums, supported by ABS, EBD and Brake Assist. Later versions also benefit from VSC/TRC and Smart Assist safety technology. Toyota's official specifications confirm the 69 PS/92 Nm engine and brake configuration.
For Bangladesh roads, a realistic figure for a healthy 1.0L FWD Passo is around 15 km/L in city traffic, 19 km/L on highways and approximately 17 km/L combined. Heavy Dhaka congestion, frequent AC use, short journeys and aggressive acceleration can reduce city mileage to around 12–14 km/L. Toyota's Japanese WLTC figure for the later FWD model is 21 km/L, with 17.4 km/L city, 22.6 km/L suburban and 22.6 km/L highway in the 2022–2023 specification, but Japanese test-cycle figures should not be presented as Bangladesh real-world mileage.
The final-generation Passo was sold in grades including X, X L Package, X S, X G Package, MODA and MODA G Package, with equipment varying by model year. The X is the simpler choice for buyers prioritizing price and economy. X L Package adds useful comfort equipment, while X G Package provides additional equipment. MODA has a more stylish exterior and interior, while MODA G Package is the higher-equipment version with features such as upgraded wheels and premium trim. Toyota's 2018 range included X, X S, X L Package-S, X G Package, MODA and MODA G Package.
Yes, particularly for Dhaka city driving, narrow roads, congested streets and limited parking spaces. Its compact 3.65-metre body and 4.6-metre turning radius make it exceptionally easy to manoeuvre. The 150mm ground clearance is workable on normal paved Bangladesh roads, but large speed breakers and deep potholes require caution. The suspension is comfortable enough for daily urban use, while the light steering makes long periods of low-speed traffic less tiring. For badly broken rural roads, a vehicle with greater ground clearance would be more suitable.
Yes. City driving is arguably the Passo's strongest use case. The 996cc engine, CVT automatic transmission, compact body, light steering and tight turning radius make it easy to drive through Dhaka's traffic. The small dimensions also make parking considerably easier. Fuel economy is another major advantage, although heavy congestion and continuous AC use will reduce mileage. The 1.0L engine is adequate for commuting but can feel slow when overtaking, especially with four or five occupants and the AC running.
A reasonable budget for routine maintenance is around Tk 15,000–30,000 per year, excluding fuel, insurance and major repairs. A normal oil and filter service can often fall around Tk 4,000–7,000, depending on oil and workshop. Owners should also budget separately for tyres, battery, brake components and suspension work. The CVT should receive proper maintenance, and buyers should verify its condition before purchasing. A newer 2020–2023 Passo with a documented service history can be considerably easier to own than a neglected high-mileage car.
Check the CVT, engine, suspension, brakes, AC, electrical systems, chassis and safety systems. During a cold start, listen for abnormal engine noise or excessive vibration. During the test drive, check CVT response for hesitation, juddering or unusual noise. Test the AC in stationary Dhaka traffic, because weak cooling can expose compressor or condenser problems. Check the Smart Assist warning system, ABS/VSC warning lights and airbags. Inspect the chassis for accident repair and verify the auction sheet, chassis number, registration documents, mileage and import history where applicable.
The biggest weaknesses are modest 1.0L acceleration, basic interior materials, limited factory infotainment and 150mm ground clearance. The CVT is smooth and economical but is not designed for enthusiastic driving. The car can also feel underpowered when fully loaded on highways. Modern features such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and Apple CarPlay are absent. Some high-grade cars have significantly better equipment than X-grade cars, so buyers should inspect the exact grade rather than assuming every Passo has the same specification.
Yes, Passo does have other variants. Check out the Passo page at Toyota Passo for all other available variants.
