Toyota Innova (2015-2022) Specifications

The Toyota Innova 2.0 uses the 1,998cc 1TR-FE naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 139 PS and 183 Nm. The six-speed automatic provides smooth everyday performance, but the large MPV's weight means acceleration is relaxed rather than sporty. A realistic 0–100 km/h figure is approximately 13.5–14.5 seconds.

The braking system uses front ventilated disc brakes and rear drum brakes, supported by ABS, EBD and Brake Assist. Actual stopping distance depends on tyres, road surface, passenger load and vehicle condition.

A realistic Bangladesh expectation is around 7–9 km/L in Dhaka city traffic, 10–12 km/L on highways and approximately 8–10 km/L combined.

Heavy Dhaka congestion, frequent air-conditioner use, long periods of idling and a fully occupied cabin can push city mileage toward the lower end. On open highways, the 2.0 petrol engine can deliver better economy when driven smoothly.

Depending on market, the 2.0 Innova was offered in grades such as E, G, V and higher luxury/flagship versions, with equipment varying by country.

The 2.0E is suitable for buyers who want the core Innova package at a lower price. The 2.0G adds useful convenience equipment and is a good middle-ground specification. Higher grades such as V/V Luxury or Q/flagship versions, depending on market, provide more premium interior equipment, captain seats and additional technology.

Yes. The Innova's RWD platform, approximately 178–200 mm ground clearance, long wheelbase and robust suspension make it well suited to Bangladesh's paved highways and moderately rough roads.

It handles speed breakers, broken urban roads and long highway journeys comfortably. The suspension is particularly useful when carrying several passengers.

However, it is not an off-road vehicle. Deep mud, severe potholes and badly damaged rural roads should still be approached carefully.

The Innova 2.0 is easy to drive in city traffic because the six-speed automatic transmission, high seating position and smooth naturally aspirated petrol engine make stop-start driving relatively relaxed.

The problem is fuel economy. In severe Dhaka traffic, frequent braking, idling and AC use can reduce the 2.0 petrol engine to roughly 7–8 km/L.

It is therefore better suited to families who need the Innova's space rather than buyers who primarily want the lowest possible fuel cost.

Parking sensors and a reverse camera, where fitted, are particularly useful because of the Innova's size.

Routine maintenance for a healthy Toyota Innova 2.0 should generally be manageable because the 1TR-FE engine is widely known and Toyota parts are readily available.

A reasonable budget is approximately Tk 18,000–30,000 per year for routine maintenance, excluding fuel, insurance, tyres and major repairs. Older vehicles should have a reserve of around Tk 35,000–60,000 per year for suspension, brakes, battery, AC and age-related repairs.

The naturally aspirated petrol engine also avoids some of the additional complexity associated with modern turbo-diesel emissions systems.

Check the engine, automatic transmission, cooling system, suspension, steering, brakes, AC and electrical systems first.

Inspect the 1TR-FE for oil leaks, abnormal noises, overheating and rough idle. During the test drive, make sure the automatic transmission shifts smoothly without hesitation or harsh engagement.

Also inspect the chassis for accident repairs, underbody damage and rust. Check the actual mileage, service history

The biggest disadvantages are higher fuel consumption than the diesel Innova, modest acceleration, large exterior dimensions and relatively old safety technology.

The naturally aspirated 2.0 petrol engine is smooth and reliable but has only 183 Nm of torque, so the vehicle feels noticeably slower when fully loaded.

Fuel consumption can also become expensive in Dhaka traffic. Buyers who drive mostly in severe congestion should calculate running costs carefully.

The Innova's conventional safety package is respectable, but it does not offer the comprehensive ADAS technology found in newer Toyota models.

Yes, Innova does have other variants. Check out the Innova page at Toyota Innova for all other available variants.
