Toyota Hilux price in Bangladesh currently ranges from approximately Tk 6 lakh to Tk 25 lakh for used 2004–2015 models.
The later 2.5 D-4D 2KD-FTV produces approximately 144 hp and 343 Nm, while earlier 2.5L versions produced less power depending on engine calibration and model year.
The representative later 4WD version reaches 0–100 km/h in approximately 12.5 seconds, with a top speed around 170 km/h.
Braking uses front ventilated discs and rear drum brakes, with ABS on equipped versions. The Hilux was engineered primarily for durability and load carrying rather than sports-car braking performance
A realistic Bangladesh expectation for the 2.5L diesel Hilux Vigo is around 7–9 km/L in city driving, 10–12 km/L on highways and 8–10 km/L combined.
Older examples can return less because injector condition, turbocharger health, tyre size, engine compression and maintenance have a major effect on diesel economy.
Heavy Dhaka traffic, frequent AC use and carrying loads can push city mileage toward 7 km/L, while a mechanically healthy vehicle driven steadily on highways can approach 11–12 km/L.
For the 2004–2015 generation, the 2.5 D-4D 4WD Double Cab is one of the best all-round choices for Bangladesh.
Earlier 2.5L versions are simpler and cheaper, while the later 2011 facelift 2.5 D-4D producing around 144 hp and 343 Nm offers noticeably stronger performance.
The 3.0 D-4D is preferable for buyers who want more torque and stronger performance, but clean examples are harder to find and can cost more.
For rural travel, construction work and rough roads, 4WD is worth prioritising.
Yes. This is arguably one of the Hilux's strongest reasons for existing in Bangladesh.
The Vigo's high ground clearance, body-on-frame construction, leaf-spring rear suspension and available 4WD make it comfortable on broken rural roads, muddy tracks, construction areas and poorly surfaced roads.
It is also capable on highways.
The downside is its size. The Double Cab is more than five metres long, so narrow Dhaka streets and tight parking areas require more attention.
For Bangladesh's mixed road conditions, however, the Hilux Vigo is significantly better suited to rough roads than most conventional sedans and many soft-road crossovers.
It is usable, but city driving is not where this Hilux feels most natural.
The high driving position provides excellent visibility and the steering is manageable, but the large body makes tight parking, U-turns and narrow roads more difficult.
Dhaka traffic also exposes the limitations of an older diesel pickup. Stop-start congestion and heavy AC use can push fuel consumption down to around 7–8 km/L.
If you regularly travel outside Dhaka, carry equipment or need a pickup bed, the compromises make sense.
If your driving is almost entirely urban commuting, a smaller SUV or sedan will be considerably easier and cheaper to live with.
Routine maintenance can be relatively affordable because the Hilux is mechanically simple and parts are widely available in Bangladesh.
A sensible annual budget is approximately Tk 30,000–60,000 for routine maintenance, excluding fuel, tax, insurance and major repairs.
For an older 2004–2010 vehicle, I would keep a larger reserve of approximately Tk 60,000–100,000+ per year because suspension components, injectors, turbochargers, clutch, differential, AC and steering components may require attention.
The condition of the individual vehicle matters far more than the model's reputation for reliability.
Check the engine, turbocharger, injectors, clutch, gearbox, differential and 4WD system first.
Then inspect the chassis, suspension, leaf springs, steering, brakes and underbody.
Look carefully for rust, welding, accident repairs and chassis straightness. Many old pickups have experienced commercial or off-road use, so the underside can tell you more than the shiny bodywork.
Also check AC performance, electrical equipment, mileage consistency, tyres, wheel alignment and oil leaks.
For imported vehicles, verify the auction or import history where available.
On an old Hilux, mechanical condition is far more important than cosmetic appearance.
The biggest disadvantages are age, basic safety technology, firm ride quality and relatively high fuel consumption compared with modern passenger vehicles.
The cabin is functional rather than luxurious, and modern connectivity such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and advanced driver assistance was not part of the original equipment.
Older diesel examples can also develop expensive issues involving injectors, turbochargers, clutch components and suspension.
The biggest issue when buying one today is therefore not the Hilux design itself.
It is finding one that has not already spent fifteen years being abused.
Yes, but only after a serious mechanical inspection.
A good Hilux Vigo can still be an extremely useful vehicle in Bangladesh because it combines durable Toyota engineering, high ground clearance, strong diesel torque, 4WD capability and excellent parts availability.
It makes particular sense for rural users, businesses, construction work, agriculture, long-distance travel and buyers who genuinely need a pickup.
For ordinary Dhaka commuting, it is unnecessarily large and old.
The best purchase is not necessarily the newest 2015 example. A well-maintained 2008–2011 Hilux with a healthy engine, straight chassis and functioning 4WD can be a much better investment than a newer but abused pickup.
