Toyota Hiace (2005-2019) Specifications

The representative 2019 2.8L diesel Hiace produces 151 PS and 300 Nm, giving it strong low-speed pulling ability rather than sports-car acceleration. A realistic 0–100 km/h time is approximately 13–15 seconds, depending on load and specification. The braking system uses ventilated front discs with rear drum brakes on the H200 configuration. There is no dependable universal braking-distance figure for Bangladesh because passenger load, tyres, road surface and brake condition substantially affect stopping distance.

A 2.8L diesel Hiace generally returns around 7–9 km/L in city driving, 10–12 km/L on highways and approximately 8–10 km/L combined under typical Bangladesh conditions. A heavily loaded Hiace running its AC continuously in Dhaka traffic can fall below that range. Highway mileage improves when the vehicle is maintained properly and driven at a steady speed.

The most suitable variant depends on how the vehicle will be used. GL and Commuter versions are practical for passenger transport, while Super GL offers a more premium cabin and equipment. The 2.8L diesel is particularly attractive for commercial and long-distance use because of its 300 Nm torque. For family or tourism use, buyers should prioritize a clean, well-maintained passenger configuration over simply choosing the highest grade.

Yes, the Hiace is exceptionally well suited to Bangladesh's roads when used for the purpose it was designed for. Its approximately 190 mm ground clearance, rear-wheel drive, strong diesel torque and robust suspension work well on Dhaka streets, highways and intercity routes. The main challenge is size: the long wheelbase and roughly 5.4-metre body require care in narrow roads, crowded markets and tight parking areas. It is much more comfortable on paved roads than badly broken rural tracks.

Yes, particularly for commercial passenger transport, rent-a-car operations, hotels, tourism and large families. The upright driving position provides excellent visibility and the diesel engine has enough torque to move a fully occupied van without excessive effort. However, Dhaka congestion can make fuel consumption noticeably worse, and the Hiace's size makes U-turns and parking more difficult than with a sedan or compact MPV. Rear AC performance is especially important for Bangladesh's hot climate.

A reasonable routine-maintenance budget for a well-maintained H200 is approximately Tk 30,000–60,000 per year, excluding fuel, tyres, insurance and major repairs. Commercially used vehicles can require considerably more because suspension, brakes, clutch or automatic transmission components experience greater loads. Diesel fuel-system components, turbocharger-related parts and injectors can also become expensive if maintenance has been neglected. The advantage is that Hiace parts and mechanics are widely available throughout Bangladesh.

Check the Japanese auction sheet, chassis number, auction grade, mileage and previous commercial use first. Then inspect the engine, turbocharger, injectors, transmission, differential, suspension, steering, brakes, AC system and underbody. Check whether the vehicle has suffered structural damage or flood exposure. On a passenger Hiace, inspect every seat, sliding door, rear AC component and electrical system. Because many Hiaces are used commercially, chassis condition and genuine mileage are particularly important.

If you need a large passenger van, commercial transport vehicle, tourism vehicle or family people-carrier, the Hiace remains one of the safest choices in Bangladesh's used/reconditioned market. Its reliability, parts availability, resale demand and strong diesel torque are major advantages. However, it is not the right choice if your priority is low fuel consumption, easy city parking or car-like handling. For commercial use, a clean H200 with documented history is usually a much better investment than a cheaper but heavily abused example.
