Toyota Allion G

Toyota Allion G uses a 1,496cc 1NZ-FE engine producing 109 PS and 136 Nm. It is designed for smooth everyday driving rather than fast acceleration. The 0–100 km/h time is approximately 11 seconds, depending on road conditions and vehicle condition. Braking uses front ventilated disc brakes with rear drum brakes, supported by ABS, EBD and Brake Assist. The braking system is predictable for normal Dhaka traffic and highway driving, although tyre condition and brake maintenance have a major effect on stopping performance.

A healthy Toyota Allion G can realistically deliver around 10–11 km/L in Dhaka-style city traffic, 14–15 km/L on highways and approximately 12 km/L combined. Heavy congestion, long idling, frequent acceleration, air-conditioning use, tyre pressure and engine condition can reduce city mileage. G Plus sits higher with additional equipment. If you want a balance between equipment and purchase price, the G Package provides a useful middle ground; G Plus is more suitable if higher equipment levels are important to you.

Yes, particularly if most of your driving is on paved Dhaka roads, highways and urban roads. The Allion's comfortable suspension and 2,700 mm wheelbase make it pleasant on longer journeys, while its 1,695 mm width is manageable in congested streets. Its approximately 160 mm ground clearance is the main limitation. Large speed breakers, deep potholes, broken village roads and damaged urban streets require slower driving. For regular Bangladesh use, keeping the suspension, wheel alignment and tyres in good condition is especially important.

The 1,500cc engine and Super CVT-i automatic transmission make the Allion G easy to drive in stop-and-go traffic. The steering is light, the sedan has good visibility and the 5.3-metre turning radius makes manoeuvring reasonably easy. In Dhaka, expect around 10–11 km/L depending on traffic and AC use. The cabin is also comfortable enough for long periods behind the wheel. The main drawback is the lack of rear AC vents, which can make the rear cabin take longer to cool during extremely hot weather.

For a healthy car, routine maintenance can commonly be around ৳15,000–25,000 per year, excluding fuel, insurance and major repairs. A normal engine oil and filter service can often cost approximately ৳4,000–7,000, depending on oil grade, parts and workshop. With an older Allion, keeping ৳30,000–50,000 or more annually available for unexpected suspension, brake, battery, AC or electrical repairs is sensible. CVT servicing should be done correctly and on schedule because neglecting the transmission can create substantially higher repair costs.

Check the engine, CVT, suspension, steering, brakes, AC, electrical equipment and body condition thoroughly. Inspect the auction sheet and chassis information where available. Look for accident repairs, repainting, rust, oil leaks, uneven panel gaps and signs of flood damage. During a test drive, check for CVT hesitation, abnormal vibration, transmission noise, steering vibration and warning lights. Test every power window, air-conditioning function, smart key, push-start system, infotainment unit, camera and electrical accessory. Also compare the claimed mileage with the actual condition of the steering wheel, seats, pedals and interior.

The main disadvantages are modest 1.5-litre performance, low sedan ground clearance, dated infotainment and limited modern ADAS technology. The 109 PS engine is adequate for normal commuting but can feel less energetic when the car is fully loaded with passengers and luggage. The approximately 160 mm clearance also requires care on Bangladesh's large speed breakers and badly damaged roads. Compared with newer sedans, the Allion lacks technologies such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, Apple CarPlay and advanced autonomous driving assistance.

Allion G makes sense if you want a comfortable Japanese sedan with Toyota reliability, good parts availability, reasonable fuel economy and a spacious cabin. It is particularly practical for Dhaka commuting and highway family travel. However, condition matters greatly because a well-maintained 2016 car can be a better ownership experience than a poorly maintained newer example. Check the auction history, mileage, accident history, CVT condition, suspension, AC and electrical systems carefully.
