The Yaris Cross X is not the specification that tries to win a features competition. It is the one that says, "Here are the things you actually use."
Automatic climate control is particularly useful in Bangladesh. Cruise control is helpful on longer highway journeys, while power windows, smart entry, push-button starting and a reversing system make everyday driving straightforward.
The hybrid powertrain itself is the biggest technological feature. The electric motor provides assistance during acceleration and regenerative braking recovers energy when slowing down. You do not need to plug the car into a wall, and there is no complicated charging routine.
The X also comes with useful Toyota safety technology, while navigation and connected features can vary according to the exact Japanese-market equipment package.
Where the X differs from the G and Z is luxury equipment. You do not get the same premium wheels, leather treatment, power driver's seat and additional convenience features available higher up the range.
But there is something appealing about this approach. There are fewer expensive toys to worry about, and the car remains focused on its fundamental job: transporting you efficiently and comfortably.
For Bangladesh, the most useful features are arguably the hybrid system, automatic AC, cruise control, smart key, push start, reversing assistance and elevated seating position.
You can survive without ambient lighting. You cannot survive Dhaka traffic without good air-conditioning.
