The feature list is where the RAV4 Z Hybrid really announces that this is a new generation. The centrepiece is Toyota's 12.9-inch HD display audio, supported by Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth and connected services. The driver gets a configurable 12.3-inch digital display, while Toyota's new software architecture allows more sophisticated multimedia and vehicle information functions.
Then there is the equipment that is genuinely useful rather than merely impressive on a brochure. Advanced Park can handle steering, acceleration, braking and gear selection during supported parking manoeuvres, while the 3D Panoramic View Monitor provides a bird's-eye-style view of the vehicle and its surroundings. Toyota lists Advanced Park as standard on the Japanese Z grade.
The Z Hybrid also gets adaptive cruise control, lane tracing, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive high beams and a broad collection of parking and collision-avoidance systems.
For Bangladesh, these features are particularly relevant. A 360-degree camera is useful when squeezing a 4.6-metre SUV into a Dhaka parking space, while adaptive cruise and lane assistance become valuable during long highway journeys.
Toyota has also introduced connected services and software-update capability. Some functions depend on the Japanese T-Connect ecosystem and subscription, so imported vehicles may not have every connected service functioning locally.
Overall, the Z Hybrid's technology is one of its biggest advances: it feels properly modern rather than simply being an older RAV4 with a larger screen.
