Exterior

The Land Cruiser 300 GX is the LC300 without the jewellery. And strangely, that makes it rather interesting. The basic body remains unmistakably Land Cruiser: tall, square-shouldered, substantial and designed around function rather than pretending to be a sports car. At 4,950mm long, 1,980mm wide and 1,925mm tall, it is still enormous by normal Bangladesh standards. But the GX deliberately avoids much of the chrome and decorative equipment found on the more expensive grades. That gives it a cleaner, more utilitarian appearance. The 18-inch alloy wheels are wrapped in 265/65 R18 tyres, giving the vehicle a sensible amount of sidewall for rough roads. That is actually rather useful in Bangladesh, where a pothole occasionally appears with the ambition of swallowing an entire wheel. The high ground clearance and short-overhang approach are more important than decorative trim. The GX is built around the same fundamental LC300 architecture as the expensive versions, meaning it retains the proper full-time 4WD system and the underlying off-road engineering. It does not have the visual theatre of the GR Sport. It does not have the luxury bling of the ZX. Instead, it looks like what it is: a serious Toyota SUV wearing its work clothes. And there is something reassuring about that. In Dhaka, it will still look enormous. On a highway, it has tremendous road presence. On a rural road, however, the absence of unnecessary decoration becomes an advantage. You can concentrate on driving rather than worrying about whether a decorative bumper insert has just met a Bangladeshi speed breaker.

Interior

The GX interior is where Toyota makes the biggest compromise. You still get the fundamental LC300 cabin: an excellent driving position, a wide dashboard, substantial seats, strong visibility and a properly engineered passenger compartment. But unlike the ZX or GR Sport, the GX is not trying to impersonate a luxury lounge. The Japanese GX is a five-seat vehicle, which immediately changes the interior philosophy. There is no third row fighting for space. Instead, passengers get a much more straightforward two-row layout with useful cargo capacity behind them. The seats are electrically adjustable, the steering wheel is leather-wrapped, automatic climate control is standard and rear passengers receive dedicated AC ventilation. That makes the GX perfectly comfortable for long Bangladesh journeys. What you do not get is the enormous catalogue of expensive luxury equipment. No ventilated seats. No panoramic sunroof. No premium JBL theatre. No elaborate rear entertainment system. No fancy ambient-lighting extravaganza. And frankly, some buyers will not care. The GX's appeal is precisely that it gives you the Land Cruiser mechanical package without forcing you to buy every luxury toy Toyota has invented. The cabin is also easier to understand than many modern luxury SUVs. There are physical controls for important functions, the driving position is commanding and the overall design prioritises usability. For a buyer who plans to use the LC300 as a genuine long-distance vehicle rather than a mobile VIP lounge, this simplicity can actually be attractive. The only obvious weakness is the lack of seven seats. If you regularly carry a large family, the GX is not the right configuration.

Features

The GX proves that “entry-level” can be a slightly misleading phrase when the vehicle underneath is a Land Cruiser 300. You do not get every luxury feature, but you still get the important mechanical technology. The 3.5L V6 twin-turbo produces 415 PS and 650 Nm, while the Direct Shift 10-speed automatic sends power through the full-time 4WD system. Toyota developed the LC300 around improved body rigidity, lower centre of gravity and serious off-road capability. The GX therefore gets the important bits. You get automatic climate control, smart entry, push-button start, cruise control, touchscreen connectivity, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, USB connectivity, parking sensors and modern safety assistance. The infotainment system is less extravagant than the higher grades, but it does the job. And that is essentially the GX philosophy. It does not attempt to turn the Land Cruiser into a luxury electronics showroom. It gives you the equipment necessary to live with a large SUV every day while preserving the mechanical capability that defines the model. For Bangladesh, the practical features are more important than the glamorous ones. Rear AC vents matter. Parking sensors matter. A comfortable driver's seat matters. Good visibility matters. Reliable 4WD hardware matters enormously if the vehicle is actually taken outside paved roads. The one thing I would not do is buy a GX and immediately spend enormous money converting it cosmetically into a ZX or GR Sport. If you wanted the luxury grade, buy the luxury grade. The GX's charm is that it knows what it is.

Safety

Safety & Driver Assistance

The Toyota Land Cruiser 3.5 Twin Turbo takes a practical approach to safety, with its recorded equipment covering the systems that matter most in everyday driving. Its listed safety equipment includes ABS, brake assist, traction control, electronic stability control, tyre-pressure monitoring, driver airbag, passenger airbag, and side airbags. The combination gives the Land Cruiser a clear safety character rather than relying on equipment names alone. The vehicle has 4 recorded airbags, adding protection around the cabin. Driver assistance is strengthened by forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and driver attention warning. ABS, braking assistance, stability control, parking support and child-seat mounting points can make a meaningful difference in crowded city traffic, tight parking areas and longer highway journeys when fitted to this configuration. For the complete equipment breakdown, see the full safety review and the full specifications and features. The full features review puts the safety kit alongside the rest of the vehicle's technology, while the driving experience review explains how the car behaves on the road. Driving Experience

The GX's biggest surprise is how fast it is. The engine is a 3.5L V6 twin-turbo petrol producing 415 PS and 650 Nm. Toyota paired it with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and the result is approximately 6.7 seconds to 100 km/h. That is absurdly quick for something this large. You press the accelerator and the GX does not respond like a lumbering off-road vehicle. It moves. The twin turbos deliver strong torque, the transmission has ten ratios to work with and the full-time 4WD system turns that power into forward motion without much drama. Around Dhaka, the experience is more relaxed. The steering is manageable, the seating position is excellent and the suspension deals with broken surfaces with the sort of calmness expected from a Land Cruiser. The problem is the fuel pump. A realistic 4–5.5 km/L in Dhaka traffic is not unusual for this 3.5L petrol engine. Highway driving can improve that to around 7–9 km/L under sensible conditions. Toyota's official Japanese WLTC figure is 8.0 km/L, but Bangladesh driving is considerably less cooperative. Then there is the reason you bought a Land Cruiser. Leave the highway and the GX becomes much more interesting. Full-time 4WD, low-range capability and substantial ground clearance allow it to tackle roads that would have ordinary crossovers reconsidering their life choices. It is not as specialised as the GR Sport. It is not as luxurious as the ZX. But the fundamental Land Cruiser character remains. The GX is fast, comfortable and extremely capable. It simply refuses to waste money pretending it is a limousine.
EXPLORE THE RANGE

Variants

The Japanese LC300 grade structure currently runs through GX, AX, VX, ZX and GR Sport, with the GX occupying the entry position. The important detail is that GX is not a diesel in the current Japanese range. Toyota's current Japanese specification lists the GX as the 3.5L V6 twin-turbo petrol, five-seat model, producing 415 PS and 650 Nm. The 3.3L diesel is currently offered in ZX and GR Sport configurations. That makes the GX a rather unusual Land Cruiser. It is the entry grade, but the engine is still enormous. It is the basic grade, but it still has 4WD. It is the less luxurious version, but it still accelerates to 100 km/h in roughly seven seconds. And it is the cheaper way into the LC300 family without moving down to a different Land Cruiser platform. The AX adds equipment and seven-seat practicality. The VX moves further toward comfort and luxury. The ZX is the premium flagship-style specification. The GR Sport changes the emphasis toward aggressive styling and specialised off-road performance. For Bangladesh, GX is therefore best understood as the mechanically serious, comparatively simple LC300. It is particularly attractive to someone who cares more about the Land Cruiser's engine, chassis, 4WD system and long-term durability than ventilated seats and premium audio. The five-seat layout is also useful for buyers who regularly carry luggage. The biggest question is price. If the difference between a GX and a higher grade is small in the Bangladesh reconditioned market, the additional equipment may justify spending more. But if the GX is substantially cheaper, it offers something rather compelling: the core LC300 experience without the luxury-tax theatre. And for some buyers, that is exactly the Land Cruiser they actually need.
