Question 1

What is the Toyota Fortuner GR Sport price in Bangladesh?

Accepted Answer

The Toyota Fortuner GR Sport price in Bangladesh is approximately Tk 2.05 crore to Tk 2.15 crore for a current new/imported unit. The exact price can vary according to the model year, importer, exchange rate, taxes, registration and specification.

Question 2

Is Toyota Fortuner GR Sport a good car to buy in Bangladesh?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if you specifically want a powerful seven-seat diesel SUV with genuine 4WD, strong Toyota reliability and high resale value.

The GR Sport is particularly attractive for buyers who want something more performance-oriented than the standard Fortuner. Its 2.8-litre diesel produces 550 Nm and the suspension receives GR-specific tuning.

However, at around Tk 2 crore, it is not the best value-for-money SUV if your priorities are simply comfort, fuel economy and luxury features.

Question 3

What are the Toyota Fortuner GR Sport performance figures?

Accepted Answer

The 2.8-litre 1GD-FTV produces 221 hp (224 PS) and 550 Nm, making it substantially stronger than the regular 2.8 Fortuner's 204 PS/500 Nm tune.

It uses a 6-speed automatic transmission with Sequential Shift and paddle shifters, sending power through a 4WD system.

A realistic 0–100 km/h figure is approximately 10–10.5 seconds, depending on test conditions, tyre condition, fuel load and surface.

Toyota equips it with four-wheel disc brakes, ABS, EBD and Brake Assist, giving it the braking hardware expected from a heavy seven-seat SUV.

Question 4

How much mileage does Toyota Fortuner GR Sport provide in Bangladesh?

Accepted Answer

A realistic Bangladesh expectation is around 7–9 km/L in city traffic, 11–13 km/L on highways and approximately 9–11 km/L combined.

Heavy Dhaka congestion can push city mileage below 7 km/L, especially when the air-conditioner is working continuously.

During a 700-km road test of the 224 hp GR Sport, a reviewer reported approximately 9.7 km/L while driving relatively hard, while noting that calmer 100–120 km/h driving should improve consumption.

Question 5

What fuel does the Toyota Fortuner GR Sport use?

Accepted Answer

This is the diesel version.

Question 6

Which Toyota Fortuner GR Sport variant is best?

Accepted Answer

For the current Toyota Thailand lineup, the GR Sport is effectively a single 2.8 GR Sport 4WD configuration. Toyota's current model page lists the 2.8 GR Sport 4WD as the sole GR Sport grade.

That makes the decision easier than with the regular Fortuner range.

For Bangladesh, this specification is best suited to buyers who want maximum Fortuner performance and do not mind paying the substantial premium. If you mainly drive in Dhaka and never need 4WD, a lower Fortuner grade makes more financial sense.

Question 7

Is Toyota Fortuner GR Sport good for family use?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but with one important qualification: it is a sportier family SUV rather than a luxury family cruiser.

The seven-seat layout, rear AC, large cabin, good visibility and durable chassis are excellent for Bangladeshi families travelling between Dhaka and cities such as Chattogram, Sylhet, Cox's Bazar or village areas.

The GR suspension is sharper than the standard Fortuner setup, which improves control but can make rough city roads feel firmer.

If maximum comfort is the priority, a regular Fortuner or a softer monocoque SUV may be preferable.

Question 8

Is Toyota Fortuner suitable for Bangladesh roads?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the Toyota Fortuner 2.8 Diesel is well suited to Bangladesh roads, with 180 mm of ground clearance and a SUV body that handles speed breakers and uneven road sections well.

Question 9

Is Toyota Fortuner GR Sport good for Dhaka city driving?

Accepted Answer

It works in Dhaka, but calling it ideal would be stretching the truth.

The high driving position, automatic transmission, 360-degree camera, parking sensors and strong low-speed torque make it surprisingly manageable in traffic.

The problem is its size and fuel consumption. At 4,795 mm long and 1,855 mm wide, it is not a small vehicle for narrow Dhaka streets or crowded parking areas.

The realistic 7–9 km/L city mileage also means running costs will be considerably higher than those of a Corolla, Harrier hybrid or other smaller Japanese vehicle.

Question 10

Is Toyota Fortuner GR Sport petrol or diesel, and which fuel should I use?

Accepted Answer

The current GR Sport is a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel using Toyota's 1GD-FTV engine.

It produces 224 PS and 550 Nm and uses common-rail direct injection with a variable-nozzle turbocharger and intercooler.

For Bangladesh, diesel is the only fuel type relevant to the GR Sport specification. Use good-quality diesel from reputable filling stations and maintain the fuel and filtration system properly.

The 2024 Euro 5 specification also introduced a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and DPF regeneration system, so prolonged low-speed driving and neglected maintenance should be avoided.

Question 11

What should I check before buying a Toyota Fortuner GR Sport?

Accepted Answer

For a new or imported GR Sport, first verify that it is a genuine factory GR Sport, not a regular Fortuner fitted with aftermarket GR bumpers, wheels and badges.

Check the VIN/chassis number, manufacturing date, import documentation, customs papers, service history and warranty.

Then test the 2.8 diesel engine, 6-speed automatic transmission, 4WD system, GR suspension, 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, DPF system, AC and infotainment system.

Also verify the 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, wireless charging and JBL audio system.

For an imported used unit, inspect the chassis and suspension carefully for accident damage or off-road abuse.
