The E110 arrived at a time when Corolla design was becoming cleaner and more mature, abandoning some of the sharper lines associated with earlier generations. Its four-door sedan body remains compact by modern standards, measuring roughly 4.3 metres long and 1.69 metres wide.
That compact footprint is one reason these cars still work surprisingly well in Bangladesh. Parking is easier than with today's larger sedans, while the relatively upright greenhouse provides reasonable visibility around town. The simple three-box silhouette also gives the car a surprisingly dignified appearance when an original example is kept clean.
Higher grades could bring alloy wheels, fog lamps, sunroof equipment and additional exterior detailing, but many surviving cars have accumulated aftermarket wheels, spoilers, lighting and body modifications over the years.
Age is now the defining factor. Paint fading, mismatched panels, corrosion, replacement lamps and poorly fitted body kits can dramatically change the appearance of an individual car. A straight, original E110 therefore looks considerably better than a heavily modified example.
It is not a dramatic design, but that restraint has aged reasonably well. The styling is functional, conservative and unmistakably late-1990s Toyota.
